Dolby Showcases the Sound of HD at AES Paris 2006
Paris, 19 April, 2006Dolby® Media Producer will make its European debut at this year's Audio Engineering Society Convention in Paris, which takes place on 2023 May 2006 at the Porte de Versailles. Dolby Media Producer, a professional suite of software disc mastering tools, brings a new approach to mastering audio content both for today's DVD-Video and DVD-Audio formats and for new high-definition (HD) disc media formats.
Visitors to the Dolby Laboratories booth (1501) will learn about authoring for current and new codecs; discuss audio for the new HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats and view demonstrations of the Dolby Media Producer suite. Visitors will also be able to learn how Dolby is working with HD broadcasters across Europe to provide thrilling 5.1 surround sound, giving viewers a more vivid, more involving HD experience.

"Visitors to AES 2006 will be able to see how important surround sound is to the development of today's new systems and understand how they can best use new formats to create a compelling experience for the consumer."
Dolby Media Producer is a professional suite of software DVD and high-definition disc mastering tools, which includes Dolby Media Encoder, Dolby Media Decoder, and Dolby Media Tools. The suite provides content creators with comprehensive audio mastering capabilities for packaged media applications. These tools support encoding and decoding of Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and MLP Lossless technologies for HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc and today's DVD-Video and DVD-Audio formats. Dolby Media Tools offers bitstream and metadata editing features to save costly re-encoding of existing files.
The Dolby booth will also highlight the success of 5.1 audio in Europe and showcase the Dolby technologies at the heart of the new generation of high-definition media, including HD television broadcast, plus the HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats. Technologies featured will include Dolby Digital Plus, an extension of Dolby Digital, that provides the same or even higher quality at lower data rates, and lossless Dolby TrueHD audio for studio-quality reproduction from HD discs.
At the AES conference, Roland Vlaicu, Broadcast Consultant at Dolby, will speak on Sunday, 21 May on "New audio coding systems for HDTV" as part of an Audio Broadcasting Technologies for New Media tutorial, chaired by Lars Jonsson of SR Sweden. The tutorial, which will also be presented by Ola Kejving of SR Sweden and Erik Lundbeck of SVT Sweden, will compare new distribution systems for audio broadcasting from implementation, frequency, and market perspectives, including looking at the new surround sound audio formats for HDTV and for the new HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats.
